About 15 years ago the gay community in Grant County area (this means lesbians, gays, bisex-uals, transgenders, questioning, and any of their allies), had an art auction. After that fundraising event we formed a nonprofit organization which we named SouthWest Activities Network Society (SWANS). Many donations, dollars and distributions have come and gone since. Over $40,000 actually! This has been distributed in the LGBT community for various needs over the years, including maintaining our website. Many people have benefited from SWANS by receiving small scholarships, cash grants and money for emergency expenses etc.
